2015 Mazda6 – Thumbs up all-around!
Those in the market for a charming midsize sedan are in for a treat with the new 2015 Mazda6. The automaker’s vehicle offers a sense of sophistication both inside and out, along with sensual styling, an attractive interior and great handling. In addition, consumers will be pleasantly surprised with this Mazda’s excellent fuel economy ratings.
Buyers need look no further for a midsize sedan that provides impressive fuel economy, as the 2015 Mazda6 has a rating of 8.8/6.1 litres per 100 kilometres (city/highway), when equipped with the optional 6-speed automatic transmission. However when teaming the automatic with the automaker’s i-ELOOP regenerative braking system, consumption ratings will drop to 8.4 and 5.9 L/100km.
The automatic transmission comes with a SPORT mode and, when opting for the top-of-the-line GT model, includes paddle shifters. For drivers that prefer shifting with a manual transmission, a 6-speed is standard on all models, and is paired to a SKYACTIV-G 2.5 4-cylinder engine offered across the board on the 2015 Mazda6. With Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology equipped, consumers can also anticipate lower fuel consumption when compared to its predecessor.
They can also expect direct-injection, variable valve timing, and an extremely high compression ratio of 13:1 for greater efficiency. The new “6” will also produce a total output of 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque – and only regular gasoline is recommended, keeping the cost low, and the driving pleasure high.
In terms of driving the 2015 Mazda6, the sedan provides agile handling, and a sporty feel. And let’s not forget that the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada, also known as AJAC, named the 2014 Mazda6 the Canadian Car of the Year. In addition, and in terms of safety, the 2015 model has garnered a top 5-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Mazda6 is equipped with more than just dynamic stability and traction control. Other available technologies include a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, radar cruise control, forward obstruction warning and a high beam control system – all of which are worth your consideration. The automaker’s technologies only add to the enjoyment of driving the sedan, as each feature will help to diminish the possibility of a collision.
As for the interior, buyers may find it to be rather handsome due to the upscale look and feel of the vehicle. Features such as driver’s memory position, advanced keyless entry system, a rearview camera, and a voice-activated navigation system are offered, depending on the model. These features are very convenient, much like the standard steering wheel-mounted audio controls and Bluetooth system.
On the mid-level GS trim and up, consumers will find features like leather-trimmed upholstery (optional on the GS, standard on the GT), a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a leather-like door trim that enhances the vehicle’s sense of sophistication. With the top GT model, buyers can also opt for satellite radio with the Technology Package, and a standard 11-speaker audio system with surround sound.
There’s a reason the 2015 Mazda6 is one of the best-driving midsize sedans on the market. It’s easy to appreciate the gorgeous styling and upscale interior, although SKYACTIV technology, top safety ratings from the NHTSA, agile handling, and impressive fuel economy ratings will naturally have you swooning over the new “6” in no time.
