- Manufacturer Recommendations: Always follow your vehicle's maintenance schedule. For example, Mazda recommends an 8,000 km rotation interval, even though 16,000 km may be listed as the maximum limit.
How Are Tires Rotated?
The correct rotation pattern depends on the drivetrain and tire design.
- Forward Cross (FWD): Front tires move straight to the rear, while rear tires move diagonally to the opposite front positions.
- Rearward Cross (RWD): Rear tires move straight to the front, while front tires move diagonally to the opposite rear positions.
- Directional Tires: If the sidewall has an arrow showing the rotation direction, the tire must remain on the same side of the vehicle. It can move from front to rear but should not be crossed to the opposite side.
